Los Angeles Trade Tech a Community College

LA Los Angeles Trade Tech College, a Community College for military and veterans

Los Angeles Trade Tech a Community College Profile

Los Angeles Trade Tech a Community College. or LATTC. is a public community college in Los Angeles, CA, and the oldest of the 9 public 2-year colleges in the Los Angeles Community College District. They offer academic courses required for transfer to a four-year college or university as well as nearly 90 different occupational programs, some of which you can complete in less than a year.

In 1925, the school was opened as the Frank Wiggins Trade School. It started to gain a reputation for the success of its graduates in industrial careers. During World War II, the college’s Aircraft and Welding Trades departments operated under the supervision of the Federal War Production Training Program. In 1948, in response to veteran retraining needs, as well as the Los Angeles’ post-war population boom, the college was able to expand its curriculum and offer an Associates in Arts degree in vocational disciplines as well as academic and liberal arts areas.

In 1957, the school moved to its current location taking over Polytechnic High School. In 1966, Metropolitan Los Angeles Community College merged with the school and they joined the newly formed Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD).
