North American Trade Schools
North American Trade Schools Profile
North American Trade Schools is a private trade school in Baltimore, MD. Currently, they have around 500 full-time students. Their focus is on graduated job-ready tradespeople and truck drivers.
The school believes that skills training should be directed to the needs of the individual and employer. They put an emphasis on qualified workmanship, proper attitude, and good attendance in order to prepare graduates for employment and advancement.
Back in 1970, the Diesel Institute of America (DIA) was conceived by Sheldon Monsein. His idea was born out of the need for additional qualified diesel mechanics to repair the vehicles at his facility and the first class was in Landover, MD. This made the school the first of the Maryland diesel trade schools. In 1983, the school opened in Grantsville, MD.
In 1986, they added commercial truck driving and in 2002, it was purchased and is now owned by EFC Trade. In 2004, they relocated to Baltimore, MD, and the name was changed to North American Trade Schools. They now have eight different programs that help fill nine different career paths.
The time it takes to get through a program depends on the program but the length could be anywhere from a few months to a little over a year. They also have one of the most comprehensive and effective job placement assistance programs of all local area trade schools. They offer professional development advising, invitations to prospective employers, and help with contacting potential employers.
